"We need a lot more products," said Ordaz, 41, gesturing toward the aisles in the airy convenience store, which sells items such as cereal, beer, chips and Mexican soft drinks.
Two as-yet unidentified players matched all six numbers in Saturday's Florida Lotto drawing and will share an estimated $14 million jackpot. The winning tickets, with the numbers 4-7-8-11-20-27, were bought at La Plaza, 751 N.W. Airoso Blvd. in Port St. Lucie, and at the Publix at 10142 Indiantown Road in Jupiter.
Ordaz, of Lake Worth, also hopes news of the winning ticket will attract customers.
"That's what we really need," he said. "Business is kind of slow, but hopefully with the season, it will start to pick up."
From Thursday through Saturday, the store sold 227 lottery tickets, Ordaz said.
His nephew, Edward Leonor, regretted that he wasn't among those who bought one.
"Man," he said, laughing and shaking his head. "I should have played."
