Powerball hits N.C. in 10 days
Saturday, May 20, 2006 posted 04:34 AM EDT
HICKORY -- The long-anticipated first Powerball tickets in North Carolina go on sale at 5 a.m. May 30.
That’s when the new North Carolina Education Lottery officially joins the multistate game.
The first Powerball drawing will be held just a day later, at 10:59 p.m. May 31.
Players will be able to purchase one play for $1, with up to five plays per ticket. For $1 extra, players may try to increase their winnings up to five times if the numbers match - but the increase won’t be good on the jackpot.
Brochures explaining how to play Powerball will begin arriving at lottery ticket outlets next week.
